Group Norms and Expectations

We plan to organize to three groups for discussion:

1) High School: Kim, Gwen, Kristyn, Christina, Libby, Nick

2) Middle School/ Upper Elementary: Renee, Katie, Joan, Gary, Todd, Nick

3) Elementary: Kristy, Julie, Jackie, Melissa, Nick

When we are given work time, we plan to address the questions or ideas in our groups and then come back toward the end of the time to share out with the larger group.

Questions that we will need to address:

  1. How will we prepare all students toward this goal through next-generation, personalized, anytime/anywhere learning environments?
  2. How will we prepare teachers to thrive in these new environments?  What do the best instructional practices look like in this type of environment?
  3. How can we establish comprehensive systems of assessment to measure all the dimensions of college and career readiness? (This includes ongoing demonstration of the universal constructs.)
  4. How do we effectively monitor, record, and report learning in a competency-based system?
  5. How can we share our learning in ways that support the transition of other schools?
  6. How will we define personalized learning?

Although I am no longer in the classroom, as the director of teaching and learning, I would like to see our learning environments look differentiated and personal, meeting kids at their level and pushing them to the next level.  In addition, it is important in our environments that teachers facilitate the learning - and provide "just in time" instruction to students who need that.
