Project-based Learning (PBL) is a strategy that works well with competency-base education.  I just learned about this online professional development opportunity and wanted to pass it along for those who might be interested.

Deb Loftsgard has been implementing PBL into her 7-12 social studies classroom for 2 years. She was professionally trained during the summer of 2012 and completed teacher certification via PBLU.org (sponsored by Buck Institute for Ed) on April 15th, and is attending the PBL Coaching Academy (sponsored by BIE) in Napa, CA this summer.
